The First Team were really looking forward to this local derby, full credit to both teams for competing in this fixture with the right spirits and each team displaying brilliant spells of football. A really positive showcasing of the women’s game in the local area.
We had some really good consistency behind us coming into this game with back to back wins and it showed. We started well and were winning the battles all over, we took the lead thanks to an audacious long range effort from Mel Albury who really enjoys and thrives in this fixture.
Falcons to their credit didn’t let off and kept playing some really good football out from the back which caused us a few issues at times. We had a period where we were not closing them down quick enough. Falcons then got their equaliser after a well taken goal by Sophie Carpenter. Hannah Burrows also had a tremendous goal line clearance for Boro, that we look forward to watching back.
Boro knew now more than ever that the game was on and a big battle remained. We re-took the lead after a brief stoppage in play in which we re-started with a drop ball and Mel Albury put it on a plate for Jodie Goodall to get on the end of and guide it home with a beautiful header.
HT-Gosport Falcons 1-2 GBLFC 1st
A quick de-brief and regroup at HT with a couple of changes, the team knew the job was not done yet and they had to get that all important third goal to remain in control.
Thats exactly what they did, Boro really turned it up a gear second half and kept creating chance after chance. Albeit in hindsight we should have had slightly better composure in-front of goal.
We got our third goal from a corner after Zoe Bache superbly guided the ball to Jodie Goodall who once again glanced it brilliantly and effortlessly into the back of the net. Falcons kept trying to get through but our defence held firm with bodies being put on the line once again. The game was sealed with Zoe Bache and Jodie Goodall linking up beautifully once again. A superb Hat Trick for Jodie Goodall.
Overall a really cool, calm and collected performance from Boro whose team togetherness really shone through and deservedly they take the win and progress to the Quarter Finals of the Invitation Cup.
We wish Gosport Falcons all the best for the remainder of the season and thank them for a well contested game.
Player of the match- Jodie Goodall, often man marked at times but was still able to not only create chances but get herself into dangerous positions and score some brilliant goals.

Captains comments;
In my team talk, I asked the girls to stick together, work hard for each other and play our football. This is exactly what the girls did, even when we conceded, we pulled together as a team to keep on pushing forward to claim a deserved victory. Despite not closing the ball down quick enough in the first half, Boro definitely turned up in the second, with every single player giving 100% effort and not giving up on that ball! Onto the next round of the cup!

FT- Gosport Falcons 1-4 GBLFC 1st
After 2 weeks with no game, our reserves were finally back in action.
We had a bit of a slow start to begin with and we seemed to panic a bit with our passing, Winchester scored leaving it 1-0 to them at half time.
The second half we came out much stronger and more composed and managed to get the equaliser scored by Orla Marie with her knee and assisted by Bobby Davies. Within 5 minutes the girls were eager for another and Harriet Edwards managed to pop it in the back of the net from a rebound cross making the score 2-1 to us.
Within minutes Winchester were straight back eager to get the equaliser and they did so making it 2-2. Winchester then went on to score a 3rd goal as the girls battled hard to win the ball back. After a dodgy tackle from Winchester one of our players went down and they went on to score making the final score 4-2 to Winchester.
A shout out to our goalie Shannon Stock who today made some great saves and kept us in the game. We thank Winchester for a good game and We wish our winger Orla a speedy recovery after she broke her collar bone during today’s game. We now move on and look forward to welcoming paulsgrove to our ground next week.

Our development hosted clanfield at home in the league.
A really difficult day first half we played some good football despite this we went into half time 3-0 down. Second half we suffered a few injuries and just didn’t get started and unfortunately let our heads drop.
There are some tough days in football and this was one of them for our development, but their team spirit and willingness to keep learning and fight on I’m sure they will bounce back at training and then their next game.
They did get to wear their new home kit for the first time this season and we thank The Cocked Hat for their sponsorship and support.
