Gosport Borough kicked off at Tatnam at 7:45 on Tuesday. The Boro entered this game at 9th place against 2nd place Poole Town.
The game started with Gosport dominant, having most of the possession and having the more frequent chances.
Dan Wooden had to come off in the 20th minute after a dangerous follow-through hit his shin, forcing Pat Suraci to be subbed on.
Poole were getting multiple open counter attacks as the game went on, but Gosport were controlling the ball in the middle of the pitch.
There were some great last-man challenges by Harry Kavanagh and Jordan Rose to keep Boro in the game.
Pat O’Flaherty was called upon to make some great saves as the Poole Town forwards got through on goal.
Nearer to the end of the half, Theo Lewis slipped in Bradley Tarbuck wonderfully, but the chip over the keeper went just wide of the post.
Boro started the second half with real aggression, as Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tarbuck put in really challenging crosses for the keeper, both almost leading to a goal.
The Dolphins took time to settle, but grew more confident after a great attack got a man open which made O’Flaherty make another great save.
In the 66th minute Poole Town number nine Tony Lee connected with the ball beautifully, launching it into the top corner, going in off the underside of the crossbar to give Poole the lead.
Just after, Rose had to come off with an injury for Gerard Storey.
Tarbuck nearly got Boro back in the game after Ryan Woodford lofted a great ball over the Poole backline, but the keeper was able to hold on the shot.
As the game came to a conclusion, Gosport were struggling to build up any play or breakthrough a resilient Dolphin’s defence and were unable to equalise.
