Gosport Borough 0 - 0 Plymouth Parkway

Report by James McIntosh

Parkway hold Gosport to a goalless draw at the AEI Stadium.

Coming off a six game unbeaten streak, Gosport would be looking to secure three points against a Plymouth-side third from bottom.

With it taking the first half an hour for the team’s to find their feet, Gosport had the first big opportunity. Ex-Bournemouth midfielder Danny Hollands launched a long free kick, trickling onto Asher Yearwood open in front of goal. Almost with too much time to think about it, the attacker shot just wide of the right post.

Five minutes onwards Mitchel Beardmore did excellent to keep the ball in play just beside the byline and then released onto veteran Mikey Williams. With a low-driven shot, former-teammate Adam Parkes was forced to get down low to make a save before eventually being cleared.

Just before the break, Parkes was tested again. This time it was James Watts-Barciela with another low hit shot, with the Gosport keeper getting down to his right to make the save. On the rebound Edworthy launched over the bar.

Half-Time: Gosport 0-0 Plymouth Parkway

Starting the second half how they left off, the hosts’ continued their search for a goal. Yearwood on the counter, set Samuel Faniyan through on goal. Cutting inside of White, the attacker slashed a shot at goal forcing a great stop from Griffths.

Substitutions were made from both teams, including, Exeter loanee Santino Ohanaka coming on to make his debut but little action occurred in the second half until the eighty-fifth minute. Gosport player of the game, Faniyan stormed at the Plymouth back line aiming towards the far corner, as Griffths managed to get behind the effort. On the rebound Yearwood fired wide in a golden opportunity to steal the three points.

Six minutes were added and Gosport did bring on top scorer, Alfie Stanley but there was no other action to report on.

Full time: Gosport 0-0 Plymouth Parkway

For the hosts’ it will feel more like two points dropped rather than the one gained but I’m sure Plymouth feel the opposite. Up next for BORO’ we are in cup action when we take on National League south side-Worthing, so we’ll see you then! But final words from me: UP THE BORO!!!
