Report by James McIntosh

Well, what a way to end a brilliant pre-season. After starting with a bullish 2-7 win over Petersfield, BORO’ produce a similar performance today to end the season’s preparations in emphatic style.

No surprise that it was Dan Wooden who got the party underway.
After returning back to the team, Diaz was the man who created the attack. With a free kick being awarded to BORO’, Antonio Diaz managed to play a perfect ball into Wooden, who beat the keeper to the ball and headed it in to make it 1-0

Hartley Wintney immediately tried to spoil the party by charging straight at the Gosport defence. Hartley even had the ball in the back of the net, after their number 9 ‘touched’ it in. However! This was with his hand therefore the goal was disallowed. And from a quick free kick, Dan Wooden managed to pick out Ramos behind the defence. Ramos then placed a low-driven shot past the goalie to make it 2-0.

We’ve all come to learn that Rafa loves goals and one would not be enough! So seconds later he would add another to the tally! After a well worked attack down the left hand channel, Wooden yet again managed to set up Ramos leaving him only against the keeper. Rafa then finished off the attack by smashing the ball home to make it 3-0

Bradley Tarbuck then wanted piece of the action, with the winger managing to get past a number of defenders using a range of skills, leaving him on the edge of the box. But we’ve seen Tarbuck in tight angles and produce wonders; with this being no different! After smashing a ball in the right side of the net, the power left the goalie no chance making it 4-0

BORO’ would get one last goal before the half ended. This one being the first for new signing Corey Jordan. After another great aerial ball from Diaz, this time it fell to Jordan. The former Aldershot man using his height to his advantage, he managed to beat the defender to the ball and nod it in to make it a 5-0

Half time: Gosport 5-0 Hartley Wintney

Twenty minutes into the second half, Harvey Rew managed to produce another one of his iconic goals. Nutmegging not one but three defenders he found himself 15 yards from goal. We saw him score from this range against Horndean, and he reproduced the same thing today with a shot being placed in the bottom right corner to make it 6-0

Despite the dominance from Gosport, it would be the away team who would have the last opportunity. Hartley’s number 14, managed to have a shot at goal after a counter attack from a Gosport corner. Number 14 did have a crack at goal, but the our Trialist in between the sticks managed to deflect the effort and retain the clean sheet.

A great way to finish pre-season! Now Bracknell awaits us!
