Better late than never! Gosport secure the win, within the last two minutes of the game!
Ironically despite having the best ending to the game we’ve seen this season, this game couldn’t have gotten off to a much worse start. A combination between Beaconsfield possession mixed with a few shots would later be converted into a goal! Yearwood operating in the centre of the park, did well to set up his own chance. Finishing off the attack the striker sliced a ball past Steward to break the deadlock!
On the 25 minute mark, the next big moment yet again came from the rams! A Beaconsfield corner worked it’s way onto Dobson at the back post. With a tough angle, a ball was blazed over the bar in a rushed shot!
Just before the half concluded, Gosport had one final chance! Our midfield maestro - Bradley Tarbuck did well to dance past the Beaconsfield backline, eventually drilling a cross into the Beaconsfield box. However nobody was in the box, and it returned back to Beaconsfield possession.
Half time - Beaconsfield 1-0 Gosport
Substitutes - Akpan and Ramos replaced Wooden and Medway, which proved to be efficient changes! Williams lifted a ball (inch perfect) into Tarbuck in the box. Awaiting the cross, Tarbuck calmly controlled the ball before dragging it just wide of the post! Looking a lot more clinical in the early moments of the second half….
Tarbuck was at it again moments later, in the right place, at the right time allowed him to be given a ball from around 18 yards out from goal. Brushing a shot towards goal, it curled the ball around the Beaconsfield defenders until eventually hitting the last defender.
Like an architect, Wassmer played on substitute - Ramos behind the Beaconsfield defender thanks to an intelligent through ball. Ramos won his battle against Rowley, but smashed his shot inches wide!
Penalty shouts were screamed from around the stadium on the 70th minute after Louis was brought down in the BORO’ box. No penalty was given and In the aftermath a Beaconsfield player was booked along with one of their coaches being sent off!
Despite usual constant perfect passing, Wassmer actually gave away a loose ball on the edge of the BORO’ box to goalscorer - Yearwood. Guiding the pass onto Hippolyte, it allowed for the midfielder to turn successfully and get his shot across but aiming straight at Steward and causing no damage!
Steward was needed again moments later, following the past chance. Yearwood was at the centre of the attack again! Picking up another poor pass, this time the striker shot at goal, forcing Steward to dive to his right, deflecting the ball out for a corner!
With two minutes left on the clock, BORO’ were awarded a penalty after a blatant foul on Barsa! As a result, BORO’ were given a late penalty, seeing Williams step up. A cool, calm penalty from the skipper saw him smash the ball into the top corner to give us the equaliser!
But BORO’ were desperate to snatch the three points! At the death, Scrimshaw was fed a ball in an incredibly dangerous area! Finishing off the attack, the attacker got his shot across, drilling it into the bottom to confirm the three points. Not a bad way to open his BORO’ goal account either!
Full time - Beaconsfield 1-2 Gosport
Thanks to the two late goals, this confirmed the vital three points and we remain top of the southern premier league! An ending, I’m sure all Gosport fans won’t be forgetting any time soon…
