Gosport make it 4 wins from 4 after a win against Swindon Supermarine. Final Score 0 - 2
Gosport had the first chance of the game with the attack starting from Steward. The goalkeeper managed to pick out Harry Kavanagh in the centre of the park, with the defender playing it onto Harvey Rew. Good interplay between the BORO’ players, resulted with winger Jonny Efedge being played through on goal. Taking two touches, giving himself a better angle Efedge had a crack at goal but ended up blazing the ball over the bar.
Although there was not much to separate the teams in the first half an hour, the deadlock was broken in the 36th minute. A free kick from Rew managed to find Charlie Wassmer who cushioned the ball for fellow defender Corey Jordan. Ironically the ball was then played on to another defender Harry Medway, with ‘H’ launching a shot from distance which smashed the underside of the crossbar, before ricocheting off of it to go in the back of the net to give Gosport the lead. 0 -1
Swindon did immediately launch a counter attack with the winger Williams pacing down the right hand channel. He found Spalding who had a crack at goal, but his shot ended up blazing over the bar. Which left Gosport going in at the break one up. 0 - 1
Minutes after the second half kicked off nerves started to show, with Pompey loanee keeper Steward making a pass to Marine’s forward Dowling. Steward quickly redeemed himself by repositioning and saving the shot.
With 20 minutes left on the clock, we were nearly treated to a wonder goal. Top goalscorer this season, Harvey Rew was already in a dangerous position and found himself unmarked. So once the ball was played to him, Gosport knew something was about to happen. But unselfishly Rew set up striker Dan Wooden, with Dan lifting the ball up and smashing it over his head with the shot going just wide.
But just six minutes later, Gosport fans did get their goal. ‘Super Sub’ Ramos was the man behind the attack, receiving the ball 20 yards out from goal Rafa Ramos charged at the Marine defence. Looking like the Southern league Ronaldo, in true Ronaldo fashion his trickery took him past all of the home defenders and he was through on goal. He did get his shot away but the Swindon keeper made a heroic save, only for the rebound to fall to Alex Barsa who smashed the ball home to finish off the contest and BORO’ the win.
That’s now 4 wins from 4 for Gosport who can be pleased with their 23/24 New Chapter start.
Next week another challenge and a real challenge as the visitors to the AEI are Walton and Hersham, who also boast a 100% win rate, with 3 wins from 3 games.
